Long-Term Disability

At no cost to you, Tenneco offers income protection benefits if you are unable to work due to an approved medical leave of absence.

Administed by MetLife, Long-Term Disability (LTD) insurance provides you with a benefit if you unable to work due to a prolonged disability. LTD benefits begin after you have been continuously disabled for 182 days and exhausted your eligibility for Short-Term Disability.

At no cost to you, Tenneco provides coverage that replaces 60% of your monthly base salary, to a maximum of $20,000 a month.

Eligibility begins after 90 days of employment.

  • Eligibility for LTD coverage begins after 90 days of employment.
  • Tenneco provides LTD coverage to replace 40% of monthly base pay to a maximum of $1,000 a month. 
  • In addition to the basic LTD coverage provided by Tenneco, you can purchase an additional 20% of coverage to increase your total amount of disability coverage to 60% of your monthly base pay, up to a maximum of $2,000 a month. If you elect the LTD Buy-Up plan during your initial 30 days of employment, you will not be required to provide Evidence of Insurability.
